Somewhere over the rainbow may be where the spirit of Israel “IZ” Kamakawiwo’ole rests, but his custom-made ukulele will be on view in L.A. for at least two years starting today, when the new Grammy Museum opens, according to the Mountain Apple Company, the Hawaiian singer’s last record label. And another label is about to release “Unforgettable,” a new compilation of tracks IZ recorded as a solo artist and with his band before that, the Makaha Sons of Ni’ihau. They’re both examples of how Bruddah Iz continues to inspire more than a decade after his death.
